this evening I got a call from Telenet and the guy on the phone said that after the installation from last week and the activation of the line on Monday - which they now apparently realized has happened - the modem still does not work.
Agent: Is the modem plugged in?
Are you fricking kidding me?! - of course there is power on the modem, sucker!
I hence told him about the assumption that the connection in the cellar is most likely messed up (just as I supposed: they did not have feedback from the technician, yet, when I talked to them yesterday) and he subsequently dispatched a new technician for Thursday morning to come and check it out.
Could this be possibly resulting in a solution now? I checked the cables in the cellar and there is no way on earth, indeed, to know which one belongs to which apartment (though I'd like to know how the last guy made his choice then... after all there were four free cables and I just cannot believe that he thought he might get lucky when randomly picking one out of four).
Alright - I most likely will once more work from home on Thursday morning to make sure I am there when the next guy from Telenet shows up. They said they'd sent a text to my cell early enough before he arrives and I admit that I also received such a text last Thursday. But given my experience with Telenet so far, I just cannot bring myself to rely on that.
One way or the other, I'll have a story to tell on Thursday. Stay tuned.
