Charity event

Once a year the company is shelling out a considerable amount of money for a R&D event, which is typically celebrating what has been achieved in the last 12 months, adorned with more or less stupid games, drinks, food and the party at the end with live music.

Although I think this is a nice gesture, for me this feels very artificial and I never really cared too much about those events.

This year, however, the thing was organized to support local charities.
Throughout the day the R&D community built IKEA furniture, put together food packs, cleaning sets or grooming packs, placed them on pallets and sent them off to the different charities. There were also relaxing activities like dancing, painting, games and stuff and there were of course food and drinks, a band and a DJ for the party at the end of the day.

While I still do not care too much about these events, the fact that this one was focussed on at least trying to improve the live of others made it special and gave it a meaning which I could relate to much better than in all the other years.

More importantly, however, I am very proud of Lamia, who contributed so much to make this event a success!
