From the start we decided to go for two rounds, because the big sofa in my living room is not only extremely big and heavy, but also difficult to protect from getting dirty or damaged from the other items.
Nevertheless, the van filled up quickly and thankfully, Julien, who runs the wine bar downstairs, had been kind enough to retract the marquee under my living room windows. This way we could hand down big items through the window versus slaving them through the narrow staircase.

Surprisingly, we managed to get all items downstairs okay (yes, even the sofa). Even more surprising to me, however, was the immediate interest of the helping hands in my remaining furniture.
Nadia: You have such nice stuff!
Ioana: You really don't want to take this with you?!
Andi: What do you want for the wardrobe?
Jeroen: The desk would be great for Ioana...
Hm. And I was worried I would not get rid of the stuff... but how much should I ask for the wardrobe and the glass desk?!
Then the embarrassment of the day: Andi discovered my old, dirty, non-functional bike in the cellar (which, to my defense, I have not used in years!) when we went downstairs to get the barbecue grill. He quickly realized that the reason why it did not work properly was that the back wheel had been installed the wrong way, hopelessly blocking the whole thing!
Don't ask me how come ... I suspect I made some foolish mistake when I used this bike with one of those cycle trainers.
Andi: But you do have an
Engineering degree, don't you?!
(after fixing the bike in minutes)
Hum.

Eventually the van was full and we shipped everything to the new apartment, which - like yesterday - seemed to willingly swallow all the things we threw at it. And we got everything through the staircase (yes, even the sofa)!
I was amazed, however, how much we guys carried today (and yesterday). Damn, this furniture was bitchy at times - but we mastered all of it!
What remains is an empty old apartment with some forlorn things standing around...

... and a very lively apartment on the other side with loads of things standing around.

Now it's Bob-the-Builder-time...
