The Return of the Camera!

After my appointment at the hairdresser this morning, I went to Carola who wanted to join me on my trip to Reutlingen to get my camera gear back. Having heard about my previous experiences with the shop, Norbert adviced me to give those guys a call before taking the one hour drive.

Norbert: Better have them confirm on the
phone your stuff is at hand. Otherwise you get
there and they know of nothing...

True - and you should anyhow always listen to a guy who has a razor up his sleeves...

So I called from Carola's place - and only reached an answering machine which did confirm they are open on Saturdays, but did not connect me to a real person. Just great!

With a little uneasy feeling we hit the road and I hoped for the best. We eventually arrived at the center which is situated in the nice and green area around Reutlingen.

And given that I have a photo in my blog that is obviously not taken with an iPhone, you can tell that things went fine. The lady sported a grumpy Swabian friendliness which takes jokes likes the following very well when you are about to pay:

Leo: Do you also accept cash?

Besides, the improvement to the lens is simply said: awesome!

You have no idea what a relief and satisfaction I felt when I tried it out and the autofocus ran fast and smooth at full zoom in reduced light conditions - just like it should be. I have the impression that the slack between the tubes in the lens body is a bit tighter than before, but it feels right.

Excellent!
Now I am ready for the photo tour with Alex tomorrow morning.
