The party took place at a wooden cabin in a lovely forrest area and after I had gotten lost twice on the little roads, I finally made it to the right spot... and was the third person to arrive. Two friends of Andi were already busy with getting things ready for the night.
Andi and Nadia themselves were not around, yet, due to an unfortunate accident they had with a bus. Luckily there had been hardly any damages, but this incident still took a lot of time and when Nadia arrived a few minutes after me, she was stressed and a bit discouraged.
Within an hour we had the place nicely decorated, however, and things looked up.
Ich habe doch immer gesagt, dass
Du nicht Auto fahren kannst...
Leo, when Andi arrived
Ioana and Jeroen came with the kids and the dog and soon enough a happy mix of German, English, Flemish, Romanian and dog lingo rang in the woods.
It did not rain, but it was chilly.
Thankfully I had been smart enough to bring two sweaters.
Andi and Nadia had done a great job to arrange the BBQ, salads, cakes and other sweets for the 20 to 30 guests.

Andis' friends are of the very hands-on type: carving a canoe out of a tree trunk, assembling a motorbike engine from sawdust or branding cattle.
And so they had helped to book the cabin in the first place, make a fire and arrange a benzine driven generator for a solid power supply to ensure light and music.
Apart from this adorable efficiency, the typical German party does not see much frisky dancing anymore these days. Nadia's Romanian friends would have certainly spiced up the atmosphere, but I set my hopes for the actual wedding until...
Nadia: ... too bad my hot friends cannot
make it to the wedding!
Ah crap!
When Ioana and Jeroen had left, I felt a bit out of place at first but eventually had some nice talks with Frank, Steffi and of course Andi and Nadia until the party ended at 3 am in the morning.
Andi had offered me to stay at his parents' place for the night and gee! - their house is located beautifully in Wiesbaden, up the green hills with a view to the city.
Leo: Wow, Nadia! - you made a price catch!
We slept in the old apartment of Andi's grandparents and I was woken up in the morning by a wonderfully blue sky and warm, ticklish sun beams on my face.
We had breakfast on the balcony and enjoyed the great view while eating ham and cheese and strawberrys.
I was likewise impressed by the apartment itself. Everything seemed to be frozen in the 60's and was in such an amazing condition that you could think it had just been furnished.

Look at the phone. The TV. The typewriter. The calculating machine. The radio that is integrated in the king-size bed.

Andi: Ich nenne das hier 'Das Museum'.
Very true!
I left around 11:30, and 25 hours and 788 km since leaving Brussels I was back home.
