"Darf's a bisserl mehr sein...?"

I am currently reading the latest issue of Wired and this issue features an article about mapping the human brain. In one of the first steps of this process, the brain specimens are cut in approximately 5 mm thick slices.

And this is what it looks like...



Mind you, I was having lunch when I turned to this page.

It is sort of disturbing to see someone cutting the brain with a knife that suspiciously reminds me of the one I am using to cut my bread. In fact, I hold the bread pretty much the same way the person on the photo holds the brain while slicing.

This is like going to a butcher and ordering cold cuts...
