German #1: James Morrison, featuring Nelly Furtado "Broken Strings"

And we got finally rid of Kate Perry's Hot N Cold, which dropped to 3 in the German charts.
James Morrison's Broken String is an entirely new entry and made it right to number one. And if this song was alife and we cut its throat, I think water, and not blood, would pour on the floor.
But listen for yourself:

I do not know exactly why I can enjoy e.g. The World is Outside from The Ghosts, but not so much Broken String. In principle, both songs ambush listeners in the same mainstream hunting grounds.
The World is Outside is a bit more upbeat, yes, but it is not like you will tag yourself as gourmet de musique when you admit to go for it. And just like Broken Strings it is a consciously cooked hit.

Maybe I am a bit bored by James Morrison's rather expressionless voice, his little troubles to keep it under control and the corny exploding vases and TVs at the end of the video. Fittingly, Nelly Furtado remains as bloodless and whether it was her or one of the Muppets singing along, it would not make a big difference. Except that with one of the Muppets taking Furtado's part, this song would have hardly made it to the top of the charts.

So, what remains is a rather faceless song and my hypocritical taste of music.
But it is what it is...
