This time, Steve Jobs was supported by two of his board members. First up was Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook, who gave a status update on the Macintosh. Cook listed the top reasons for the current success of the Macintosh (with Vista being one of them), pointing out the 2-3x growth versus the market.
Next up was Jonathan Ive, Senior Vice President of Design, giving insights into the new unibody aluminum enclosure of the MacBooks. Quite amazing how a laptop is being machined from a solid block of aluminum, creating a frame that is lighter and yet stronger than earlier designs.

The new MacBooks / MacBook Pros have now all the said aluminum enclosure, back-lit LED displays, big multitouch glass trackpads, much faster graphics and bigger harddrives, while being thinner and lighter than before. The MacBook Air was also upgraded with faster graphics and bigger harddrives.
And Apple finally introduced a new Cinema Display: 24 inch back-lit LED with built-in iSight and Microphone. I very much liked the new connectivity, which enables you to power your MacBook directly through a connection to the display. That is quite neat and helps reducing cable tangle.
Most of these new products had been quite correctly rumored before on the respective websites and so there were no real surprises. I must also say that I do not like the new black bezel design of the notebooks, mimicking that of the current iMacs, so much.
Having said that, the design is still more elegant than anything else out there and the new machines are... well... Awesome!
